Behind the mask
How a curious Bitcoiner ended up building a raccoon.
Hi, I'm Jörn. I'm not a designer. I'm not a marketer. I'm not an influencer.
I'm simply someone who fell down the Bitcoin rabbit hole in 2021 and never quite came back out. But the truth is, the questioning started much earlier. As long as I can remember, I have questioned the systems around me. Why does healthcare often focus more on managing symptoms than creating health? Why is so much food heavily processed despite rising health problems? Why do so many institutions seem to drift away from the people they are supposed to serve?
I could never fully explain it, but something always felt off. Not necessarily because of bad people. More often because of incentives. Because systems tend to produce exactly what they are designed to produce. For years, these were just observations and questions. Then Bitcoin entered the picture.
Suddenly, I discovered a framework that helped me connect many of the things I had been questioning for a long time. That question led to another. And another. Eventually, it led me down the Bitcoin rabbit hole.
The deeper I went, the harder it became to ignore what I was learning about money, incentives and the systems that quietly shape our lives.
HOW BITCOON STARTED
The funny part is that Bitcoon did not start with a grand mission. It started with a raccoon.
I've loved raccoons since I was a kid. Around 2023, I began experimenting with AI image generation, design ideas and print-on-demand products. Mostly out of curiosity and maybe to find an exit from the hamster wheel. One day, two worlds collided: Bitcoin and raccoons.
Bitcoon was born.
At first, it was simply a creative side project. A funny character. A few designs. Some experiments. No trademark. No roadmap. No grand vision. Just a raccoon wearing a mask and carrying a Bitcoin signal.
THE TURNING POINT
Over time, something changed. The more I learned about Bitcoin, the more I noticed how difficult it was to talk about it. Most people never encounter a clear explanation. Many have only heard headlines. Some have heard nothing at all.
At the same time, I kept seeing the effects of a monetary system that quietly transfers purchasing power away from savers and toward those closest to money creation. I realized something:
Bitcoin does not have a marketing problem. It has a visibility problem. Most people simply never find the trail. And if Bitcoin really is the exit many of us believe it to be, then making that trail a little easier to find might be one of the most useful things an ordinary person can do. One thing kept bothering me. Bitcoiners often say:
"Everyone buys Bitcoin at the price they deserve." There is truth in that. But it never felt like the whole story. Most people are busy. Busy raising children. Busy paying bills. Busy building careers. Busy trying to keep up with a system that constantly demands more time and energy.
Many never get the chance to encounter Bitcoin in a meaningful way. Not because they are unwilling to learn. Because nobody ever left a trail marker. That realization eventually became Bitcoon. Not another Bitcoin company. Not another media platform. Just a small attempt to make Bitcoin a little more visible in everyday life.
WHY BITCOON EXISTS
Bitcoon exists for one simple reason:
Bitcoin should not be a secret.
Not because everyone must buy Bitcoin. Not because everyone must agree. But because everyone deserves the chance to learn that an alternative exists. Bitcoon is my way of making that alternative a little more visible. Sometimes through a shirt. Sometimes through a sticker. Sometimes through a conversation. Sometimes through a little peaceful mischief.
MY PROMISE
Bitcoon will never be built around investors. It will never be built around growth at any cost. And it will never be built around manipulating people into buying things they do not need. The goal is simple: Make Bitcoin more visible.
Help people find the trail. Have some fun along the way. One shirt. One sticker. One conversation. One small act of peaceful mischief at a time. Follow the trail.
Bitcoiners found the exit. Bitcoons come back with a flashlight.
